Class 1 Driver

Urban Life Solutions is currently accepting applications for a Class 1 Driver for our Calgary Location. Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Truck Driver will be responsible for providing driving services to our various work sites in and around Calgary, and performing a variety of tasks in the construction and commercial landscaping.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety leadership and safe work practices at all times
• Work in accordance with ULS policies and procedures
• Provide exceptional customer service and maintain ULS client relationships
• Proper loading and driving of trucks and trailers
• Haul snow during winter season
• Overseeing hazard assessments and completing equipment pre and post trip inspections
• Overall quality assurance on delivery and completion of tasks
• Additional tasks as required

Basic/Required Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of previous experience in a similar driving/operator role
• Valid Class 1 Driver’s License, must be able to drive 18 speed manual and proof of driver’s abstract
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
• Loader experience
• Physically able (some manual labour involved)
• Truck & pup, tandem truck experience
• Ability to maintain simple records and make verbal reports
• Strong adherence to ULS safety policies and protocol
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous landscaping, snow removal and/or maintenance experience is an asset
• Ability to take direction, give direction, learn and work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to maintain composure and be a role model especially under stressful situations
• Motivated and energetic team player with an attention to detail and great work ethic
• Punctual and dependable

Working conditions/Physical Demands:

• Working in a variety of outdoor environments with the ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures, noise, dust and wet work environments
• Standing, walking, squatting/crouching, and driving
• Operating a variety of heavy equipment and tools
• Repetitive motions
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, push and pull weights of up to 50 lbs
